This version it was made with a black japanned balance wheel and a different Upper Thread Tension Dial. The machine bed decal follows the same logic used for the Jones CS model D.53. Probably this version too was made in different colours.

JONES Family CS Mod. E ................. 1950's ?

The Elna was green in color, breaking away from the traditional black, an innovation in itself for the time. The machine was a resounding success and so began Elna's commitment to the home sewing industry. The green Elna 1, also known under the nickname "Grasshopper", was produced until 1952.
