Transverse Shuttle (TS)
I recorded only few serial numbers of this sewing machines and consequently is very hard to date them. The last serial number is # 52.077, a transverse shuttle machine, copy of Singer Family 12, shown at the Needlebar.org web-site; Sewmuse.co.uk as well, has a few good examples of this nice machines that deserve to be seen. The different construction of the inspection sliding plates on the bed of the machine, make easy their recognition. This machines were sold as Family and Medium machines.

Note the difference of the shuttle slide inspection plate arrangement on the bed of the machine above and those below. Also, was the bobbin winder different or just one missed piece?. The logo on the bed machine is very similar to the Jones Howe Principle machines.

We have to presume that machines with the above shuttle slide inspection plate are dated between 1883 and 1889. From 1889 possibly we have the first new brass badge on Spool machines and the next year on the Hand Reciprocating System machines and in 1893 on the Family CS and Medium CS machines. We can assume that production of Family and Medium TS machine was terminated before 1889 having never come across with this transverse shuttle machines carrying the brass badge Trademark.
