THE MEDALLION
The bird depicted in the center of the brassed medallion could represents a "Phoenix" with its wings displayed, clutching four arrows. In Greek myths (but not only) it was a fabulous sacred bird, different from the Egyptian myth also as an aspect, in fact it resembled a golden eagle.
The "Phoenix" has its head turned towards the arrow directed downwards on its right side.
On the left side, the other three arrows are directed upwards.

New photographic evidences shown that the engraved stamp on the round Cloth Plate "AS SUPPLIED TO H.R.H. THE PRINCESS OF WALES", was added on machines from March 1890 before the bed decal was replaced with the brass badge (medallion).
From March 1890 the company keep changing slightly the graphic of the two stamped badges on the round Cloth Plate, one referred to : " As supplied to H.R.H. The Princess of Wales " and the other one to : " Jones & Company Guide Bridge Nr Manchester " Trade Mark.

The serial number of the above machine, given to me by an eBay seller, was # 113.697. The digit 3 was possibly mistaken read. With the serial number # 118.697 everything look more logic.

I believe that the flowers painted on the Machine Bed have worn off by a "zealous owner".

Although some eminent sources asserting the production of JONES HAND machines ended in 1909, there isn't any evidence of machines with the Queen Alexandra " Special Appointment " and also not enough serial numbers to justify a production until that date.

To conclude, we can say that all Jones Hand machines with the Trademark "As supplied to H.R.H. the Princess of Wales", can be considered produced between the year 1890 and 1901.
